Our goal is to provide an encouraging environment where a student will build self-esteem, teamwork, and leadership skills through world-class dance instruction.

Note: When registering for classes, please remember that ages/grade levels are considered when making classes. Keeping your dancers in their appropriate age group facilitates the best learning environment for each age group. It also helps reduce the chances of your dancer being in multiple shows for our winter and spring shows.
Ages are generally as follows:
5-6: Kinder | Minis: 6-8 1st-3rd grades
Juniors: 9-11 4th-6th grades | Teens: 12+ 7th grade+

  • A 30-minute introductory dance class. This class is a Parent-Toddler Dance Class intended for ages 2-3 years old. It's perfect for children who need some time to ease into a group setting with other children and adults. This 30-minute introductory dance class contains ballet, tap, and creative movement. Young dancers and their parent/guardian learn how to follow directions and imitate movement in an active environment while having a great time. Parent participation is required.

    Girls: Soft Blue Sparkle tutu dress, classic pink tights, pink no-tie student ballet shoes, patent black velcro tap shoes

    Boys: White T-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet and tap shoes.

  • A 30-minute introductory dance class containing ballet, tap, and creative movement. Young dancers will learn the basic steps while learning how to follow directions and imitate movement in a positive environment. Engaging music is used to get these little guys inspired to dance. The use of props such as Twinkle Bears and hula hoops, enables the young dancers to use their imagination and creativity and, most of all, have fun!

    Girls: Soft Blue Sparkle tutu dress, classic pink tights, pink no-tie student ballet shoes, patent black velcro tap shoes

    Boys: White T-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet and tap shoes.

  • An age-specific 45-minute class containing ballet, tap, and jazz/creative movement. The purpose of the class is to introduce young dancers to the three styles of dance and inspire movement and creativity within a positive environment. Dancers will also learn basic steps and terminology in all three styles. For example, all dancers will learn what a “plie” is and how to demonstrate one. The use of fun, age-appropriate music engages the young dancers’ minds and bodies. The use of props such as hula hoops for the “freeze dance” makes the end of class the most fun!

    Placement Notes: Twinkle Stars 3-4 students must be at least 3 by the time class starts.

    Girls: Princess Pink Sparkle tutu dress, classic pink tights, pink no-tie student ballet shoes, patent black velcro tap shoes.

    Boys: White T-shirt, black shorts or pants, black ballet and velcro tap shoes.

  • An age-specific 45-minute class containing ballet, tap, and jazz/creative movement.   • An age-specific 45-minute class containing ballet, tap, and jazz/creative movement.   • Dancers will work on their flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering, tumbling, and partnering in Acro. Acro technique is based on flexibility, contortion, and strength. It is a beautiful fusion of classic dance technique with the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements. Students who take acro become stronger, more flexible, and more fearless. SSOD follows the Acrobatic Arts Syllabus. (non-recital class)

    Mini Acro is a performance class.

    Attire

    One-piece unitard, leotard, gymnastic attire or tight-fitting top and dance shorts or dance leggings. Please, no tee shirts or loose-fitting shorts for student's safety.

    Hair must be pulled back out of the face.

  • Take acro skills to the next level with Acro Dance/Choreography where your dance acro skills are incorporated into dance. Acro class is required to take Acro Dance/Choreography as dancers must first learn the skills. Acro Dance/Choreography is a recital-performing class in the Holiday and Spring Shows.

    Attire

    Girls:
    Ages 5-8 (minis): mulberry leotard
    Ages 9-11 (juniors): marine leotard

    Boys: white fitted shirt and black pants

    Please, no T-shirts or loose-fitting shorts for student's safety.

  • The foundation of all dance, ballet builds a beautiful and healthy body. It instills grace, poise, and self-discipline. We encourage taking ballet to complement other dance classes.

    Please note: dancers will remain in each level for up to three years.

    Attire

    Girls:
    Ages 5-8 (Ballet 1): mulberry leotard, pink tights, stretch ballet shoes

    Ages 9-11 (Ballet 2 and 2.5): marine leotard, pink tights, stretch ballet shoes

    Teens 12-18 (Ballet 3 and 4): black leotard, pink tights, stretch canvas ballet shoes.

    Any dance skirt, hair secured away from the face in a bun.

    Boys: white t-shirt, black pants, and black ballet shoes.

  • Pointe education is offered for advanced students who have progressed to the strength level required. A strong Ballet foundation and cultivated technical ability are required for all Pointe students.

    Pre-Pointe is open to any student enrolled in Ballet 3 or higher who wishes to work toward Pointe.

    SSOD Faculty approval is required for Pointe.

  • Motions, jumps, stunting, and pom routines. Dancers will work on their flexibility, motion technique, and improve their sharpness in pom dances. Poms will need to be purchased for recital and will be used for performances.

    Attire

    Comfortable athletic wear, white cheer shoes.

  • A blend of graceful ballet with jazz moves set to slower ballads. Class increases strength and flexibility as movement is slower and controlled. A solid training in ballet is recommended.

    Attire

    Girls: Any dance leggings or shorts. Canvas half-sole shields.

    Ages 5-8 (minis): mulberry leotard
    Ages 9-11 (juniors): marine leotard
    Teens 12-18: black leotard

    Boys: white t-shirt, black pants, bare feet

  • Show Stars Hip Hop provides a structured method of learning various hip-hop dance movements in a fun­filled and vibrant class environment. From R&B and House to Club and Pop, Hip Hop classes utilize upbeat music from various genres, in addition to the latest Hip Hop hits. The resulting outcome is an energetic class that not only teaches you hip-hop movements and technique but also instills rhythm and precision in your muscle memory.

    Attire

    Comfortable, movable athletic wear, or leotard with shorts or dance pants.

    Ages 5-8 (minis): Black Sequin Hightop Sneakers with White Soles

    Ages 9-18 (juniors and teens): Black Canvas Hightop Sneakers with Black Soles

  • Our jazz and dance theater classes incorporate many styles like Broadway, Contemporary, L.A. Commercial, and more! Many drill teams and cheerleading squads perform jazz and students simply love it.

    Attire

    Girls: Tan jazz shoes, dark tan footed tights, shorts, fitted capris or dance pants.
    Ages 5-8 (minis): mulberry leotard
    Ages 9-11 (juniors): marine leotard
    Teens 12-18: black leotard

    Boys: comfortable athletic wear and black jazz shoes

  • This class consists of stretch & strengthening, leaps & turns, and jazz technique. These disciplines are crucial for any dancer who wishes to excel in any style.

    Attire

    Leotard, dance pants or shorts, jazz shoes. (non-recital class)

  • Show Stars Lyrical is a fusion of ballet with jazz and contemporary dance techniques. Lyrical dancing is performed to music with lyrics to inspire movements to express strong emotions. Lyrical dancing focuses on the dancers' individual approach and expressiveness rather than the precision of their movements.

    Attire

    Girls: Any dance skirt. Canvas half-sole shields.

    Ages 5-8 (minis): mulberry leotard
    Ages 9-11 (juniors): marine leotard
    Teens 12-18: black leotard

    Boys: White t-shirt, black pants, barefoot

  • This class is a form of theatrical performance that combines songs, acting and dance with a Jazz basis. The story, movement, and technical aspects of the entertainment as an integrated whole. 

    Attire

    Girls: dance pants or shorts
    Ages 5-8 (minis):

    Ages 8-10 (juniors):
    marine leotard, tan jazz shoes
    Teens 11-18:
    black leotard, black jazz shoes

    Boys: athletic wear, black jazz shoes

  • Tap is the fastest way to develop coordination and instill rhythm. It brings great satisfaction to children with high energy levels. Tap teaches a sense of tempo, timing, and counting.

    Attire

    Girls: Dance skirt or dance pants. Hair secured away from the face.
    Ages 5-8 (minis - Tap 1): mulberry leotard, matte black buckle taps
    Ages 9-11 (juniors): marine leotard, tan jazz tap shoes
    Teens 12-18: black leotard, black jazz tap shoes

  • Dancers will work on ballet and tap skills: rhythm and musicality, choreography, weight shifting, technique, and more. We use Show Stars curriculum.

    Attire

    Girls: Mulberry leotard, any dance skirt, matte black buckle tap shoes, and pink stretch ballet shoes

    Boys: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black jazz tap shoes and black ballet shoes
